NFL Midseason Awards

It’s time for the NFL midseason awards! We just finished week 9 and it’s time to see where we stand halfway through the season. I will be giving you the NFL MVP, Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Offensive Rookie of the Year, Defensive Rookie of the Year, Comeback Player of the Year, and Coach of the Year. I’ll be giving you my top three choices, their stats, and the reasoning behind my decisions. Be sure to comment at the bottom of the page and let me know what you think of my awards and let me know which ones you agree or disagree with. I’m always up for some criticism whether it’s constructive or not. Let’s get to the awards.

Tom Brady, Bucs are jumping on teams early

NFL MVP

1.) QB Tom Brady, Tampa Bay Buccaneers – 67.3 Completion %, 2650 Yards, 25 Touchdowns, 5 Interceptions

2.) QB Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams – 68.2 Completion %, 2771 Yards, 23 Touchdowns, 6 Interceptions

3.) RB Derrick Henry, Tennessee Titans – 219 Carries, 937 Yards, 10 Touchdowns

Tom Brady. What can you say? The guy is putting up 2007 numbers at the age of 44. After Stafford’s dud game last night, Brady sneaks up into the first spot and wins my midseason MVP. The guy’s still making it look easy.

Matthew Stafford has the Rams looking like a legit Super Bowl contender. If it wasn’t for his awful game last night against Tennessee, he would have been my MVP. I do think by the end of the year he will be MVP but it’s midseason and he will have to settle for second right now.

It’s awful Derrick Henry got hurt. He was on a ridiculous pace. I’m obviously aware he’s hurt but still, at the mid-way point, he deserves to be in my top 3 for MVP. I hope he makes it back at some point this year. Henry is a different animal at the running back position.

NFL betting: Slappin' the Bass with Josh Allen and the Bills

NFL Offensive Player of the Year

1.) Cooper Kupp – 74 Receptions, 1019 Yards, 10 Touchdowns

2.) QB Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams – 68.2 Completion %, 2771 Yards, 23 Touchdowns, 6 Interceptions

3.) RB Derrick Henry, Tennessee Titans – 219 Carries, 937 Yards, 10 Touchdowns

Cooper Kupp is on fire and the addition of Matthew Stafford has truly taken him to the next level. Kupp is on pace to record 140 receptions, 1,925 yards, and 18 touchdowns this season. Absolutely runaway offensive player of the year so far is this year.

Like I said above about Stafford, pretty much applies here. Stafford and Kupp have become the best QB and WR duo in the NFL.

Henry, unfortunately, won’t be in the running for this award due to injury either. But like I said about why he was third in my MVP, he deserves to be third in my Offensive Player of the Year as well. The guy is an absolute tank.

Trevon Diggs Picks Up Another NFL Award

NFL Defensive Player of the Year

1.) CB Trevon Diggs, Dallas Cowboys – 7 Interceptions, 2 Touchdowns

2.) DE Myles Garrett, Cleveland Browns – 12 Sacks, 33 Tackles, 12 TFL

3.) LB Matthew Judon, New England Patriots – 9 Sacks, 36 Tackles, 10 TFL

Diggs has been amazing in his second year. He makes big plays when it matters and has helped turn around a Dallas defense that was horrible last year. Diggs is the playmaker this defense needs and is a true ball hawk.

Garrett has had a great first half of the season. Leads the league in sacks and has proved to be one of the best defensive linemen in the NFL. As long as he stays healthy, I think he will ultimately win this award by year’s end.

Matthew Judon has easily been New England’s best free-agent pickup. Judon has 9 sacks and gives New England a pass-rushing threat they haven’t had in years. He is the perfect fit for this system and is going to most likely reach the mid-teens in sacks this season.

Did Mac Jones commit a foul on Brian Burns' strip sack?

NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year

1.) QB Mac Jones, New England Patriots – 68 Completion %, 2135 Yards, 10 Touchdowns, 7 Interceptions

2.) WR Ja’Marr Chase, Cincinnati Bengals – 44 Receptions, 835 Yards, 7 Touchdowns

3.) RB Najee Harris, Pittsburgh Steelers – 150 Carries, 541 Yards, 4 Touchdowns, 40 Receptions, 289 Yards, 2 Touchdowns

Yes, I am a Patriots fan but you can’t deny this is usually a quarterback award. How can you not give it to the best QB in the 2021 draft class? Only two other quarterbacks in the league’s history had five wins, more than 2,000 passing yards, and 10 touchdowns in their first nine games. Their names? Andrew Luck and Dak Prescott. Jones joined that club after New England thumped the Panthers yesterday. I expect continued improvement as the year goes on and expect Jones to win this award at the year’s end as well.

Great first half of the season for Chase. I just don’t see him sustaining it and I value quarterback a lot higher than wide receiver. I don’t want to discredit how amazing he’s been because he has been great. Jones just barely edges him out.

Pittsburgh has found their new star running back. He catches the ball and runs like a beast. He is the perfect Steeler and is going to be their workhorse for the next ten years. An absolute steal at the end of the first round Harris finishes third for me right now in a loaded offensive rookie class.

Micah Parsons Provides Bright Spot In Stunning Loss

NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year

1.) LB Micah Parsons, Dallas Cowboys – 5 Sacks, 52 Tackles, 10 TFL

2.) CB Asante Samuel Jr. Los Angeles Chargers – 2 Interceptions, 23 Tackles, 2 TFL

3.) LB Pete Werner, New Orleans Saints – 38 Tackles, 3 TFL

This is easy. Parsons is head and shoulders better than every other defensive rookie this year. He will run away with this award this year. He is a tackling machine and is only going to get better and better.

Samuel gives up catches but not much after. Taking after his dad, Samuel is a ball hawk who is just going to get better the more he plays. He has helped improve the back end of the Chargers’ defense and helped them start off 5-3 this season.

Werner’s stats don’t jump off the page but he is already a steady presence in the middle of the Saints’ defense. Werner is playing one of the weakest spots on the Saints roster (linebacker) and is playing very solid. This is a very weak defensive class which helps get Werner into my top 3 for this award.

Dak Prescott: My calf had nothing to do with the whole game - ProFootballTalk

NFL Comeback Player of the Year

1.) QB Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys – 69.4 Completion %, 2045 Yards, 18 Touchdowns, 5 Interceptions

2.) QB Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals – 68.2 Completion %, 2497 Yards, 20 Touchdowns, 11 Interceptions

3.) Safety Derwin James, Los Angeles Chargers – 1.5 Sacks, 3 Forced Fumbles, 68 Tackles, 1 Interception

After a devastating injury last year it’s so great to see Dak playing at a high level. This award is just easy for me. It’s Dak now and will be him at the end of the year too.

Burrow is having a great year just like Dak, but Dak’s team is better and Burrow turns the ball over too much for him to be my number one here. Great comeback year for him, but he has to settle for number two here.

Derwin James looks just like the Derwin James of old. Forcing fumbles and making plays all over the field. He is a huge reason why the Chargers currently sit atop the AFC West and it’s nice to see him return to old form.

Arizona Cardinals Coach Kliff Kingsbury tests positive for coronavirus - The Washington Post

NFL Coach of the Year

1.) Kliff Kingsbury, Arizona Cardinals – 8-1 Record, 1st in NFC West

2.) Mike McCarthy, Dallas Cowboys – 6-2 Record, 1st in NFC East

3.) Matt LaFleur, Green Bay Packers – 7-2 Record, 1st in NFC North

Fresh off a win against division opponent San Francisco without his QB and top two receivers, it just shows how good a coach Kingsbury has become. His Cardinals own the best record in the NFL and make Kliff the obvious choice for this award so far this year.

After a terrible first year in Dallas that even had people calling for him to be fired, Mike McCarthy has Dallas playing great football and Dallas looks like one of the best teams in the NFL. Easy choice for finalist for coach of the year.

The Aaron Rodgers drama coming into the season seemingly had LaFleur coming in with a lot of questions and drama. All his team has done is go 7-2 and almost beat Kansas City with backup QB Jordan Love. LaFleur deserves a lot of credit for the job he’s done this year.

NFL Week 10 | Picks & Predictions

Fresh off a much better 8-6 week improving my overall record to 87-49, I am feeling good coming into this week. The Patriots are rolling – can they beat Cleveland fresh off a beat down of Cincinnati? Is Patrick Mahomes going to get it on track? Can Detroit get their first win over Pittsburgh? How good are the Rams? I will answer all of these questions and more. All you need to do is keep on reading. As usual, comment at the bottom of this page and let me know what you think of my picks and let me know what games you would pick different. Catch y’all on the flip side.

Thursday Night Game

How Much Can An NFL Fan Read Into The Ravens' Blowout Win? | FiveThirtyEight

Baltimore (6-2) at Miami (2-7)

Miami sucks. Even with their impressive win over the 1-7 Texans (sarcasm) I can’t pick them to beat Baltimore. If you have any offensive players on Baltimore on your fantasy team, start them. Ravens roll.

Winner: Ravens 31-9

Sunday Afternoon Games

Cowboys vs. Falcons: Preview, score prediction for Week 10

Atlanta (4-4) at Dallas (6-2)

Dallas got embarrassed at home last week. They will rebound this week. Dallas thumps Atlanta who should have lost the Trevor Simien (might have spelled his name wrong but it don’t matter) Saints. Dallas all day.

Winner: Dallas 34-14

Colts vs. Jaguars score: Jonathan Taylor sets franchise rushing record in Indy's playoff-clinching victory - CBSSports.com

Jacksonville (2-6) at Indianapolis (4-5)

Jonathan Taylor has been ballin’! Yes, Jacksonville beat the Bills last week but I’m not banking on them pulling off two upsets in a row. Taylor continues his great season and Jacksonville goes back to what they do best, losing.

Winner: Colts 26-7

Recap: Patriots beat Browns 27-13, remain undefeated - Pats Pulpit

Cleveland (5-4) at New England (5-4)

New England is on a winning streak and the Browns just beat the hell out of the Bengals. New England is going to have to stop the run this week and I am banking on their defense to come up with a few turnovers to help Mac Jones and the Patriots offense get good field position and short scoring drives. Pats win a great game and keep climbing up the AFC.

Winner: Pats 27-23

Week 1 Recap: New York Jets vs Buffalo Bills - Prime Time Sports Talk

Buffalo (5-3) at New York Jets (2-6)

Jets and the Bills. Two teams I despise. But if you have read these articles throughout the year, I will never pick the Jets and that won’t change now. It wouldn’t hurt my feelings if they did actually win, but I just won’t pick them. I hope they both lose. But anyway…..

Winner: Bills 27-17

Najee Harris updates: How did Steelers rookie RB perform in Week 2 of preseason - DraftKings Nation

Detroit (0-8) at Pittsburgh (5-3)

As funny as it would be so I could make fun of all the Steelers fans I know to see them lose to the winless Lions, I’m not dumb enough to pick Detroit. If they do somehow win, I’ll happily take the loss. Harris runs wild as Pitt gets up early and runs the ball all over Detroit.

Winner: Steelers 24-7

Game Notes: Titans vs. Saints

New Orleans (5-3) at Tennessee
(7-2)

This is my toss up game. Heads Titans, tails Saints. It’s heads. Adrian Peterson, channel your inner 2010 (or close to it). Sorry Yvonne, I’m picking against your team again.

Winner: Titans 27-24

North & South Podcast: Breaking down the Wild Card win over the Washington Football Team - Bucs Nation

Tampa Bay (6-2) at Washington
(2-6)

It’s funny. Washington took Tampa to the limit last year in the playoffs and now Tampa is 6-2 and Washington is 2-6. Well guess what. Tampa leaves 7-2 and Washington leaves 2-7. Ok byeeeeeee.

Winner: Bucs 26-13

Sunday Evening Games

Panthers news: Sam Darnold seeing ghosts again with pick-6 vs. Patriots

Carolina (4-5) at Arizona (8-1)

Sam Darnold is horrible. I don’t think the stench of playing for the Jets ever went away as he looked awful against New England last week. Arizona wins easily. Darnold will see ghosts again.

Winner: Arizona 31-13

Vikings at Chargers final score: Minnesota defense forces seven turnovers in blowout road victory - CBSSports.com

Minnesota (3-5) at Los Angeles Chargers (5-3)

The poor Vikings. They seem to be in a position to win every week and then boom they lose. This week will be the same. They will keep this game close and then find a way to lose. Herbert goes off and the Chargers improve to 6-3.

Winner: Chargers 30-27

Cowboys vs. Broncos 2021 Week 9 game day live discussion IV - Blogging The Boys

Philadelphia (3-5) at Denver (5-4)

I just don’t trust Philly. I know they took a really good Chargers team to the wire last week, but I just think Denver wins this game. They just beat up a very good Dallas team and I just can’t see them laying an egg against the Eagles. Broncos win.

Winner: Denver 20-10

Green Bay Packers hold off Seattle Seahawks to reach NFC championship game - Los Angeles Times

Seattle (3-5) at Green Bay (7-2)

Whether it’s Aaron Rodgers playing or Jordan Love, I am picking Green Bay here. If it’s Rodgers – he’s going to come out playing pissed after missing last week or if it’s Jordan Love I expect them to feed RB Aaron Jones (pictured above). Seattle is still without QB Russell Wilson and I just trust Green Bay’s very underrated defense more than Seattle. Green Bay rebounds.

Winner: Packers 24-10

Week 5 Preview: Las Vegas Raiders vs. Kansas City Chiefs - Prime Time Sports Talk

Kansas City (5-4) at Las Vegas (5-3)

I say this every week it seems. But one of these damn weeks Patrick Mahomes is going to put together one of his vintage games. For his and my fantasy team’s sake – he needs to. I will predict again he finally has that game against the Raiders. This is your last time Mahomes, don’t make me tell your wife.

Winner: Chiefs 34-26

Monday Night Football

One reason why the 49ers will — and will not — defeat the Rams on Saturday Night Football - Niners Nation

Los Angeles Rams (7-2) at San Francisco (3-5)

This 49ers team has so much talent it’s bizarre to see them at 3-5. But after losing to Arizona when they didn’t have QB Kyler Murray and WR DeAndre Hopkins, there is no chance in hell I’m picking them against the Rams. I mean, let’s not overlook the fact the Rams are probably the best team in the NFL. Rams win and it almost is Trey Lance time in the Bay area.

Winner: Rams 27-13

Byes: Chicago, Cincinnati, Houston, New York Giants

NFL Week 9 | Picks & Predictions

Fresh of a terrible 8-7 week my record for the year is now 79-43. I need to improve this week luckily there are some games that I deem easy picks. Let’s see what happens!

Thursday Night Football Game

Jets vs. Colts odds, Week 9: Opening betting lines, points spreads plus early movement for Thursday Night Football - DraftKings Nation

New York Jets (2-5) @ Indianapolis Colts (3-5)

Even though the Jets beat the Bengals I still refuse to pick them. I just need Jets RB Michael Carter to get me some points. Rolling with the Colts.

Winner: Colts 30-20

Early Sunday Football Games

Browns Game Sunday: Browns vs Bengals odds and prediction for NFL Week 9 game

Cleveland Browns (4-4) @ Cincinnati Bengals (5-3)

I hate what I’m seeing from Cleveland right now and this is a must win game for them, in my opinion. The Bengals are fresh off a loss to the Jets and the Browns are off of a loss to Pittsburgh. I am going with Cleveland based off the fact they NEED this game. Nick Chubb finally has a breakout game and the Browns get a much needed win.

Winner: Browns 27-23

Dallas Cowboys vs. Denver Broncos, 2021 NFL Week 9 - Blogging The Boys

Denver Broncos (4-4) @ Dallas Cowboys (6-1)

Denver just gave away their best player and Dallas is probably getting their best player back. With or without Dak I expect Dallas to win easily.

Winner: Cowboys 34-16

Texans vs. Dolphins odds, Week 9: Opening betting lines, points spreads plus early movement for NFL matchup - DraftKings Nation

Houston Texans (1-7) @ Miami Dolphins (1-7)

Coin toss game. Heads Texans or tails Miami. Tails wins. I hope Tua keeps playing well.

Winner: Dolphins 26-16

Falcons vs. Saints Prediction, Odds, Spread and Over/Under for NFL Week 9

Atlanta Falcons (3-4) @ New Orleans Saints (5-2)

The Trevor Simien era begins in New Orleans after the season ending ACL tear ended Jameis Winston’s season. This is a divisonal game so I expected it to be close regardless and I’m still going with New Orleans. Alvin Kamara carries them to a close victory.

Winner: Saints 24-21

Raiders vs. Giants odds, Week 9: Opening betting lines, points spreads plus early movement for NFL matchup - DraftKings Nation

Las Vegas Raiders (5-2) @ New York Giants (2-6)

Even with the Henry Ruggs situation ongoing and the fact it could cause a distraction, the Giants just suck. Half their receivers are hurt and they aren’t very good anyway. Derek Carr leads them to a win to keep them at the top of the AFC.

Winner: Raiders 23-14

Patriots QB Mac Jones gives harsh evaluation on outing vs. Chargers

New England Patriots (4-4) @ Carolina Panthers (4-4)

After a huge win against the Chargers I see the Patriots continue to clim up the standings in the AFC as a sputtering Panthers team comes in and could be wihtout QB Sam Darnold. Mac Jones rebounds from his below average performance last week and New England wins.

Winner: Pats 30-17

Bills vs Jaguars Prediction, Odds, Spread, Over/Under & Betting Trends for NFL Week 9 Game on FanDuel

Buffalo Bills (5-2) @ Jacksonville Jaguars (1-6)

Bills win. Blowout. Easy peasy.

Winner: Bills 38-8

Ravens Game Sunday: Ravens vs. Vikings odds and prediction for Week 9 NFL game

Minnesota Vikings (3-4) @ Baltimore Ravens (5-2)

Ravens fresh off a bye should roll over a Vikings team that just lost to Dallas’s back up quarterback but this team always is in the game. So I do expect Baltimore to win but just not easily. Game winning field goal by Justin Tucker gets Baltimore the dub.

Winner: Ravens 31-28

Sunday Afternoon Football Games

Chargers Odds: Bolts open as 3-point favorites over the Eagles - Bolts From The Blue

Los Angeles Chargers (4-3) @ Philadelphia Eagles (3-5)

The Chargers have to be pissed after last week and they are going to take it out on the Eagles. I think they get up early and pile on. Chargers roll.

Winner: Chargers 31-16

Arizona Cardinals vs 49ers, Week 1: Good, bad, ugly

Arizona Cardinals (7-1) @ San Francisco 49ers (3-4)

Upset alert. With Cardinals QB Kyler Murray injured this is a chance for a team that needs a win to get one. Jimmy G plays great again and leads the 49ers to a huge upset win.

Winner: 49ers 31-23

KC Chiefs Game Sunday: Chiefs vs Packers odds and prediction for NFL Week 9 game

Kansas City Chiefs (4-4) @ Green Bay Packers (7-1)

No Aaron Rodgers due to COVID. No shot for Green Bay even though Kansas City has looked absolutely horrible this year. In what would have been the battle for king of State Farm Mahomes wins why Rodgers sits at home and watches Jeopardy.

Winner: Chiefs 31-20

Sunday Night Football Game

The Rams Keep Carving Their Own Path in the NFL Roster Arms Race - The Ringer

Tennessee Titans (6-2) @ Los Angles Rams (7-1)

Rams add Von Miller and Tennessee loses Derrick Henry. What do you think is going to happen? Exactly. Going with the red hot Rams.

Winner: Rams 28-14

Monday Night Football Game

Bears vs Steelers Prediction, Odds, Spread, Over/Under & Betting Trends for NFL Week 9 Monday Night Football

Chicago Bears (3-5) @ Pittsburgh Steelers (4-3)

Boring Monday night blowout game. Steelers with ease.

Winner: Steelers 31-10

Bye Week: Tampa Bay, Detroit Lions, Seattle Seahawks, Washington Football Team

Fantasy Football: Start/Sit Week 9

Hi, it’s Aaron Truesdale and I’m back and ready to give you the fantasy advice you need for the upcoming NFL season. Also, I answer any fantasy questions you may have every Thursday morning through Sunday on Facebook under various fantasy football groups. Be sure to follow me on Twitter.

Now, let me tell you a little bit about my start/sit column. Each week I will be giving my top 3 starts & my top 3 sits at each position. There will be a start & sit of the week at each position with projections. My column will not include the automatic starters. Automatic starters are guys you don’t bench unless they’re injured or on a bye week. I am going to give 2 examples of automatic starters at each position. QB: Josh Allen & Patrick Mahomes, RB: Christian McCaffery & Dalvin Cook, WR: Tyreke Hill & Stefon Diggs, TE: Travis Kelce & George Kittle, K: Justin Tucker & Harrison Butker. For defenses, Pittsburgh Steelers & Los Angeles Rams. Now, I’ve added a twist to my article that will mention a sleeper of the week at each position who did not make my top 3 starters list. Also, a player that is most likely on the waiver wire that you can stream if you’re in a jam at a position. Let’s get it going with Week 9!

START

Projection: 38/45|388 YDS|3 TDS

Derek Carr vs NYG

Derek Carr contract breakdown: How long are Raiders stuck with their QB? | Sporting News

Carr will be fresh coming off a bye week that spells trouble for the Giants. That Raiders offense will be clicking on all cylinders even with the loss of Ruggs. Carr will prove that he should be trusted as a QB1 in fantasy football moving forward.

Carson Wentz vs NYJ

Wentz is back as a start this week because he is up against a bad Jets defense. That matchup was just too hard to pass up. Wentz will walk all over the Jets. The Jets showed new life last week but this week it will be proven that it was just a fluke performance.

Tua Tagovailoa vs HOU

SIT

Tua faces a horrid Texans defense. He has great weapons at his disposal in the passing game which he will exploit this week. Also, he can make plays with his legs. So I see a big Career day for Tua against the Texans.

Kirk Cousins vs BAL

Projection: 23/50|224 YDS|1 TD|5 INT

Cousins is coming off a bad week and this week will be even worse against a Ravens defense that is getting healthier and coming off a bye week. It will be just another ugly showing by Cousins. Avoid him at all cost.

Matt Ryan vs NO

Ryan lost his best weapon in Ridley and this week he is up against a stout Saints defense. There are better options than Ryan go with one of those.

Ryan Tannehill vs LAR

Tannehill lost Henry and that will take away the play-action passing game. It has been shown that Tannehill is trash without the play-action passing game. He should be avoided for the rest of the season.

SLEEPER

Taysom Hill vs ATL

Hill is facing a weak Falcons defense. Also, his running ability is unbelievable. So pick up and start Hill if you’re in a jam.

START

Joe Mixon vs CLE

Bengals RB Joe Mixon week-to-week with ankle sprain | Yardbarker

Projection: 24 CAR|134 YDS|3 TDS|3 REC |24 YDS

The Bengals are coming off an embarrassing week against the Jets and they will want to prove that last week was just a fluke and they are a better team than that. So this week they will get back to basics by running the ball and playing good defense. Mixon will be the biggest benefactor of going back to the basics. It will be all Mixon all the time against that great Browns defense.

Zack Moss vs JAX

Moss coming off a good week and he will build on that and will continue to steal opportunities away from Singletary. With bye weeks and all the injures at the RB position in fantasy football you will need running backs to fill those voids and Moss is the guy to trust to do just that going forward.

Myles Gaskins vs HOU

Gaskins’s bad week good week pattern will continue so with the bad game last week then that means Gaskins will have a good against the Texans.

SIT

Cordelle Patterson vs NO

Projection: 10 CAR|37 YDS| 4 REC|33 YDS

Patterson is hard to bench especially with all the injures and bye weeks but that Saints defense is rock solid and will have the formula to shut down, Patterson. Also, with Ridley stepping away more defenses will plan on shutting down Patterson. If possible avoid him this week.

Michael Carter vs IND

Carter is coming off a couple of stunning weeks and would love for him to build on those but that Colts front 7 will be to much for Carter to handle.

Daimen Harris vs CAR

Harris has been pretty consistent this season but the Panther’s defense will clog up the holes and stop Harris dead in his tracks.

SLEEPER

Boston Scott vs LAC

Gainwell was supposed to be the guy but everyone including me forgot about how much talent Boston Scott possesses. So if you need a fill-in player trust Scott and hold onto him until Sanders returns.

START

Diontae Johnson vs CHI

Steelers receiver Diontae Johnson is 'electric' but injuries have short-circuited his season | Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Projection: 13 REC|140 YDS|2 TD

Johnson sees tons of targets which leads to big-time production and this week will be no different. Johnson will rake against a struggling Bears football team.

Michael Pittman vs NYJ

Don’t look now but here comes Pittman and he will build on that against a horrid Jets defense. Pittman could turn into a guy you don’t want to bench.

Brandin Cooks vs MIA

Cooks hasn’t been the same due to injury at the QB position but Miami is struggling just as badly as the Texans. With that said this is the perfect week to sneak Cooks into your fantasy football lineups because he will shine.

SIT

Marvin Jones Jr. vs BUF

Projection: 4 REC|39 YDS

The Jaguars offense is struggling and the Bills defense is thriving. That is reason enough to avoid Jones.

Courtland Sutton vs DAL

Sutton targets will reduce with Jeudy back and fewer targets equal less production for Sutton and less production means benching Sutton in fantasy football. Keep an eye on the situation in Denver because Jeudy being back could mean Sutton becoming droppable.

Allen Robinson vs PIT

Robinson’s frustrating season will continue this week against the top-notch Steelers’ defense. So avoid him this week but don’t give up on him because I got a gut feeling he will turn it around before season’s end.

SLEEPER

Rashod Bateman vs MIN

Bateman is a sneaky receiver in that Ravens offense and he also could be that sneaky pickup and start that helps you win your fantasy football matchup this week.

START

Mike Gesicki vs HOU

Dolphins 2020 player props: Mike Gesicki demands your attention | theScore.com

Projection: 6 REC| 101 YDS|2 TDS

Gesicki has stepped up for fantasy football owners this season. He will continue to bring it each week. That Texans team is in disarray and Gesicki will take advantage of that.

Dawson Knox vs JAX

Everything I have been reading says that Knox is going to return against the Jaguars. If that turns out to be the case then he should return to all fantasy football starting lineups.

Dallas Goedert vs LAC

Goedert saw plenty of targets last week and that will grow more and more with Ertz’s gone. Also, more targets will equal bigger production. Plus the Chargers have struggled against opposing tight ends.

SIT

Tyler Higbee vs TEN

Projection: 1 REC|14 YDS

To many mouths to feed in that Rams offense which makes Higbee hit or miss in fantasy football. This means to steer clear of Higbee in fantasy football.

Zach Ertz vs SF

Ertz is here because Murray suffered an injury last week and if he ends up not playing the backup QB will not be able to handle the pressure the 49ers pass rush will bring. Also, I don’t how Murray will be able to handle that 49ers pass rush if he plays through the ankle injury. So just play it safe and sit Ertz.

C.J. Uzomah vs CLE

Uzomah is just too hit or miss in fantasy football to be relied on. There are better and more consistent TE options out there in fantasy football.

SLEEPER

Jared Cook vs PHI

Need a tight end this week then I would take a risk and pick up and start Cook against a mediocre Eagles defense. So if you need a stop gap Cook is your man.

For Kickers and Defense. I’m only going to give a projection and an Explanation for the starts/sits of the week. The rest of the top 3 will just be listed with no explanation.

START

Dan Carlson vs NYG

Daniel Carlson embraces idea of kicking the Raiders into playoffs | Las Vegas Review-Journal

Projection: 3 XPS|4 FGS

Raiders score plenty of points which translate into plenty of fantasy points for Carlson.

Younghoe Koo vs NO

Evan McPherson vs CLE

SIT

Brandon McManus vs DAL

Projection: 3 XPS|1 MFG

McManus is an excellent Kicker but this week he will have more extra point opportunities than field goal opportunities which mean low fantasy points this week.

Cario Santos vs PIT

Matt Prater vs SF

SLEEPER

Jason Sanders vs HOU

This could be a field goal game and because of that Sanders is a good kicker to plug and play this week.

START

Buffalo vs Jacksonville

Buffalo Bills training camp injury rundown: defense and special teams - Buffalo Rumblings

Projection: 8 PTS|250 YDS| 6 SKS|3 INTS|2 FF|2 FR|2 TDS

That explosive Bills defense will trample that struggling Jaguars offense. So the Bills defense being my start of the week was a no-brainer.

Indianapolis vs. New York Jets

Baltimore vs Minnesota

SIT

Denver vs Dallas

Projection: 31 PTS|477 YDS| 2 SKS|1 INT|1 FF

The Broncos defense has been good but with Miller gone, it will go from good to bad. The Cowboys will play pitch and catch against that Broncos defense.

Green Bay vs Kansas City

Cleveland vs. Cincinnati

SLEEPER

Miami vs. Houston

If you play matchup or need a bye week filler this week the Dolphin’s defense against that struggling Texans offense would be my sneaky pickup. So don’t hesitate to pick up and start the Dolphins defense.

I had a lot of fun writing this and I hope all of my week 9 start/sit advice helps everyone. I’ll be back next week with more fantasy start/sit advice.

Wayback Wednesday | Early 2000s Hip-Hop and R&B

Music is by far the best way to let everything go and live in the moment… or back in time. Back when life was less stressful, more fun, and before all the recent chaos. Each week, I’m going to take you on a journey back into time where I’ll feature my Top 20 anthems from a specific music genre. Buckle up and enjoy the ride!

This week’s #WaybackWednesday features some of my favorite wayback Hip-Hop and R&B jams from the early-to-mid 2000s. When the ball dropped for Y2K, no one knew what the first decade of the new millennium had in store. Some thought the world would end and others expected technology to stop due to the inability for processors to flip to 2000 from 1999 – small software companies made a killing with “Y2K Fix” floppies – let me tell you! It was filled with huge moments from the climax of Harry Potter’s wizarding tale to picking your Top 8 friends on MySpace and a female artist named Lady Gaga released her first album The Fame. Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston were Hollywood’s ‘power couple’, having the Motorola Razr was cool, AOL’s Instant Messenger was a hit, Apple introduced the iPod in 2001, and Eminem won an Oscar in 2003 for his song “Lose Yourself” featured in 8 Mile. Although so much has happened since these moments, let me take you on a stroll down memory lane.

20 | Fatman Scoop – Be Faithful [2003]

19 | J-Kwon – Tipsy [2004]

13 | Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz ft. Ying Yang Twins – Get Low [2002]

12 | Eve ft. Gwen Stefani – Let Me Blow Ya Mind [2001]

Josh’s Jams | Week of October 31

It’s Halloween and even at the age of 31, I tend to celebrate this holiday and even dress up. But that’s honestly irrelevant to this article lol. My jams have been up and down over the last few weeks with me going through my random mood swings so this week they are more balanced with some even newer songs in the mix. Be sure to comment at the bottom of the page and let me know what you think of my list and let me know what songs you have been rocking out too lately. Let’s get to the list.

10) Jennifer Lopez featuring Ja Rule – I’m Real (Remix)

9) Bow Wow featuring Ciara – Like You

8) Nelly featuring Kelly Rowland – Dilemma

7) Fat Joe featuring Ashanti – What’s Luv?

AEW | 5 Things to Fix ASAP

Here we go. This is going to piss people off but I really do not care. You have WWE loyalists and AEW loyalists which is fine. You also have people that watch both which is excellent to. I knew before AEW came on air a few years ago that the one thing that would come from this would be absolute chaos between wrestling fans. If you don’t believe me, jump on twitter on a day the TV ratings come out and tell me I’m wrong. I do understand people wanting a fresh alternative and for the wrestling business to be successful we need healthy competition, but it has been a worrisome month or so for AEW and I honestly don’t think people realize it. I have watched AEW and there are parts of their show I really enjoy as well as some that baffles me that it’s actually on TV. Have no fear though as I am going to give you the 5 things AEW need to do to improve their show. Yes, I know some people are going to get mad and butt hurt about this and it’s fine. Heat up your pizza rolls, go back down to the basement, and turn on Family Guy as your mom does your laundry. Things will be okay.

5) Maybe You Do Need A Performance Center?

They don’t need a Performance Center huh? Look at the above picture. Lance Archer could have ended his career and thankfully it didn’t. Like my co host on RSH (my podcast which airs every Thursday at 6 ET on The Buzz’s FB Page) says “Every wrestling company has botches.” Yeah that’s true but other wrestling companies don’t come out saying they don’t need a PC (a shot at WWE for properly training their talent, HOW DARE THEY) and the botches are numerous and glaring as you can see 5-10 of them per show sometimes even per match. Don’t believe me check this out.

If you don’t follow @aewbotches you should do so. But my point is focus on getting the talent properly trained to be in the ring before there just thrown out there. There is a reason WWE has a PC and it’s to avoid injury and putting talents health at risk long term. You might want to invest in a PC Tony, the letting them wrestle on Dark and Elevation ain’t cutting it, ask Abadon.

AEW: A New Era In The AEW Women's Division – TWM.News

4) Fix Women’s Division

First let me say AEW has a loaded women’s division with a lot of talent. Britt Baker is a star. Thunder Rosa is a rapidly rising star. I guess that’s why Baker and Rosa had the best match not only for the women in AEW but maybe the best match of the whole year. I think they need to invest more time and effort into the division if it’s going to continue to grow and be successful. They need more TV time and they really need to build up more women outside of Britt. You don’t have to take the belt off of her you can use her to someone over without losing. You don’t have to go over to get over as Bully Ray would say. Just invest more time in developing the talent you have in this divison and it should naturally improve. You have the talent use it.

3) Stop Signing Everyone and Focus on Who you Have Already

What was that quote from Cody. You know the one. Per Fightful: “I’ve jokingly said it’s currently at about 5% — Chris Jericho, Jim Ross, Cody Rhodes. A few others, maybe. It’s not the same. Having that equity with WWE is wonderful but you’ve got to be able to cut it and meet the standards that people have for their actual bell-to-bell contest. That number might increase. There being the opportunity to exist for the boys and girls to make more money, here or there. Just to have options. If they can play, they’re gonna play,” said Cody. “But right now, the recruitment is more about ‘freshmen.’ I want to build a new class of guys. I don’t them to feel like they were set up and that was it. I want them to feel like they were set up to win and succeed. Right now, it’s a lot of faces you’ve never seen and people you’ll be surprised when you do see them.” So you can see how that went. Just signed Tony Nese and they are hell bent apparently going after Bray Wyatt. I mean why even say such a thing if your not going to even remotely stick with it. New talent. AEW has that and they should use and focus on guys like MJF, Hangman Page, Darby Allin, Jungle Boy, Wardlow, and many more. But no they sign a guy every other week put them in a high profile match then they are on AEW Dark the week after. Darby for example should have beaten Punk. You could use Punk being away for 7 years and slowly get him back to “The Best in the World” while getting over younger guys. But why do that. Let’s wait for WWE to release someone and we’ll bring them in instead. Good call Cody. At least your honest right?

AEW's Kenny Omega Wants a Match With Roman Reigns, Says 90% of WWE's Roster Wants to Join AEW

2) Build Stories and Get People Invested

Question. What storyline has Kenny Omega had that you were like damn this is a great story? Yeah, me either.

Give that a listen and he is dead on. Roman Reigns is probably in the best story right now in wrestling. The Adam Page stuff is good in AEW too but that’s the only thing they have and I mean the only story. AEW has this thing with just throwing two great talents in the ring together for no reason with no story and wondering why the ratings don’t improve. You need emotional investment and someone like Kenny Omega gives a fan no reason to even care. He’s a great wrestler. Yeah well, most of these men and women are that’s why they are where they are the difference is connecting with the fan and getting them invested which I feel AEW really struggles with. We need less “dream matches” and more stories.

Bischoff is dead on the money here. Gotta give fans a reason to want to tune in every week. Dream matches and introducing new ex- WWE talent you signed can only get you by for so long. Just look at your ratings. Speaking of.

Dave Meltzer no sells Bryan Alvarez #1 on eYada - YouTube

1) Get the WWE’s Name Out of Your Mouth and Shut up about Ratings

These two guys are pimples on the ass of wrestling. Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez are both absolute jackasses and they hurt the wrestling business as a whole. Their AEW bias is so obvious and the constant amount of false information is laughable. These two are most likely why AEW’s Tony Khan is so hell bent on hyping up his ratings “win” even though they really didn’t win shit. Below is the Rampage ratings since its debut. See the trend there? Yeah ever since CM Punks debut the show has shit the bed. They just had punk wrestle on the show last week and what did actually do? How do you go from 1.129 million to 533,000 in 2 months when “the hottest star in wrestling” is wrestling on your show. I didn’t forget about Dynamite either as they are struggling to hit a million a week even though every week is some super card. “Grand Slam” “The First Dance” just to name a few. No wonder you do four PPVs a year because you do one pretty much every other week on TV. Look at the chart its working right?

DateViewership18-49 Demographicsvs Previous Week
22 October533,0000.22-45000
15 October578,0000.2476000
08 October5020000.17-120000
1 October622,0000.25-18000
24 September640,0000.29-2000
17 September642,0000.28-28000
10 September670,0000.27-26000

20 August1,129,0000.53+379000
13 August740,0000.30

Tony Khan, you didn’t beat WWE or Smackdown at anything. On a lower tier cable network they still beat you by 30% and hell their Smackdown re run got more viewers than your live Dynamite. Or did you somehow win that too? The obsession you have with WWE is obvious. Look at the talent, all you hear at least a few times a week is a shot at WWE. Worry about your product and the fact the viewership is inconsistent and seemingly not growing. Your show is on a Wednesday so you can’t compare it to Raw on Monday who actually has head to head competition with Monday Night Football to which your competition on Wednesday is what exactly? If you want to brag about winning head to head with them then go head to head. Man up, put all your chips in and go for it. Do I think you should? Nope. Probably would be a horrible mistake. Get the WWE’s name out of your mouth, stop ass kissing Meltzer and give it up with the demo shit. I never heard any of this demo stuff until AEW became a thing. Don’t tout a particular demo just because your sow is struggling with everything else. I’ll leave with this. A quote from one of my favorite people in wrestling. Don’t poke the bear (Vince) just shut up and wrestle Tony.
