Fantasy Football: Start/Sit Week 6

Hi, it’s Aaron Truesdale and I’m back and ready to give you the fantasy advice you need for the upcoming NFL season. Also, I answer any fantasy questions you may have every Thursday morning through Sunday on Facebook under various fantasy football groups. Be sure to follow me on Twitter.

Now, let me tell you a little bit about my start/sit column. Each week I will be giving my top 3 starts & my top 3 sits at each position. There will be a start & sit of the week at each position with projections. My column will not include the automatic starters. Automatic starters are guys you don’t bench unless they’re injured or on a bye week. I am going to give 2 examples of automatic starters at each position. QB: Josh Allen & Patrick Mahomes, RB: Christian McCaffery & Dalvin Cook, WR: Tyreke Hill & Stefon Diggs, TE: Travis Kelce & George Kittle, K: Justin Tucker & Harrison Butker. For defenses, Pittsburgh Steelers & Los Angeles Rams. Now, I’ve added a twist to my article that will mention a sleeper of the week at each position who did not make my top 3 starters list. Also, a player that is most likely on the waiver wire that you can stream if you’re in a jam at a position. Let’s get it going with Week 6!

START

Taylor Heinicke vs. KC

Stock Report: Ryan Fitzpatrick, Taylor Heinicke impress in strong preseason start | RSN

Projection: 36/42 | 368 YDS | 4 TDS

Taylor is setup up for a huge game this week because that Chiefs defense is trash and they haven’t been able to stop anyone. This week will be no different. So dial up a Heinicke special.

Jalen Hurts vs. TB

Hurts had himself a fine game last week. Hurts gets that terrible Buccaneers pass defense and he will have the best game of his young career. So it won’t hurt you to start him.

Joe Burrow vs. DET

It was a scary scary moment for Bengals fans to hear the news that their star QB was taken to the hospital with a throat contusion but the good news is he is out of the hospital and will be ready for this week’s game against a Lions team that is in shambles. Burrow has been consistent this season and that trend will continue against the Detroit Lions.

SIT

Derek Carr vs. DEN

Projection: 20/48 | 228 YDS | 1 TD | 4 INTS

Carr and the Raiders are a bit deflated with Jon Gruden stepping down due to some bad choices he made in the past. Carr will struggle to find his rhythm and will result in poor fantasy football numbers. Also, that Broncos pass rush is relentless and Carr will be under pressure all game.

Ryan Tannehill vs. BUF

Tannehill has struggled this season so far. He will continue to struggle against the Bills defense which is one of the best in the NFL. So avoid Tannehill for most of the season.

Mac Jones vs. DAL

Jones took a step back last week which surprised me because I thought he would take a huge step forward last week. Jones will take a tiny step back in the right direction against Dallas. It won’t be enough to consider starting Jones. It will be another mediocre ordinary Jones performance.

SLEEPER

Teddy Bridgwater vs. LV

If you need a spot start due to bye week, injury, or just because you play matchups then I would go with Bridgewater because he is up against a deflated Raiders football team. Which will translate into inflated fantasy numbers for Bridgewater.

START

Najee Harris vs. SEA

Steelers RB Najee Harris leads all rookies in yardage after four games - Behind the Steel Curtain

Projection: 24 CAR | 136 YDS | 2 TDS | 8 REC | 72 YDS

Harris seems to be starting to gain his footing in the NFL which spells trouble for opposing defenses. Harris gets a Seattle defense which is one of the worst at stopping the run this season. Those are reasons enough to start Harris who will have the best game of his young career.

Javonte Williams vs. LV

Williams is slowly taking over as the lead back for the Broncos. This will be the week that Williams grabs hold of that job and never looks back. The time is now for Williams so start him without any hesitation. Also, the Raider’s run defense isn’t that good either.

Zach Moss vs. TEN

Moss is the Bills RB to own because as soon as the Bills hit the red zone Moss is brought into the game. He also did early-down work last week as well. Moss will post a couple of touchdowns against a middle-of-the-pack Titans run defense which is good enough to start Moss.

SIT

Miles Sanders vs. TB

Projection: 8 CAR | 29 YDS | 4 REC | 10 YDS

Sanders has been consistently bad this season and the trend will continue against the Buccaneer’s top-ranked rush defense.

Chris Carson vs. PIT

The Seahawks have lost their franchise QB, Russell Wilson, for a few weeks or months last week. So they will focus on trying to run the ball more which won’t work so well against the Steeler’s Top 10 rush defense. So more Carries for Carson but it will result in less production this week.

Damien Harris vs. DAL

The Patriots won’t run the ball much in this game because they will fall behind early against that high-powered Dallas offense. Also when Harris does carry the ball he won’t give fantasy football owners much production because what a lot of fans don’t realize is the Cowboys have the 5th ranked run defense in the NFL.

SLEEPER

Kenneth Gainwell vs. TB

Now I know Sanders is my sit of the week because Tampa has the top-ranked run defense in the NFL but Tampa has the worst pass defense in the NFL which is why Gainwell is my sleeper because he will do all of his damage in the passing game. So pick up and start Gainwell if you have to fill a bye week.

START

Devonta Smith vs. TB

DeVonta Smith video: Watch Eagles rookie WR score touchdown on first catch vs. Falcons - DraftKings Nation

Projection: 10 REC | 150 YDS | 2 TDS

Smith is up against the Tampa defense which is the worst pass defense in the NFL. That is reason enough to start him if you got him.

Chase Claypool vs. SEA

Claypool has been off to a slow start this season up until last week. Look for that to spark a stretch of good games for Claypool. Now he faces a horrible Seahawks defense which is enough reason to start him.

Terry McLaurin vs. KC

Kansas City as I mentioned earlier defense is absolute trash. McLaurin will carve them up like a turkey. Also, feel good about starting McLaurin for the rest of the season unless he is on a bye week or injured.

SIT

A.J. Brown vs. BUF

Projection: 5 REC | 31 YDS

Brown hasn’t been too good this year and I know injures are a part of it but it’s not all his fault his QB hasn’t been good either. The Bills defense is one of the best defenses in the NFL. Factor all this together it equals out to sitting Brown.

Allen Robinson vs. GB

The Bear’s offense has been too inconsistent to trust Robinson right now in fantasy football. Plus the Packers have a decent secondary even with the injures.

Henry Ruggs III vs. DEN

With Gruden stepping down the Raiders are a bit deflated and I believe it will show this week but I hope I am wrong because I don’t wish ill will onto any team. Ruggs will struggle due to all of the chaos and he is hit or miss anyway. So I would Avoid all Raiders this week except for maybe Waller.

SLEEPER

Van Jefferson vs. NYG

Jefferson has slowly burst on the scene and I believe he will get better as the season progresses. So grab him now before it’s too late and he could be a flex option this week and for the rest of the season.

START

Noah Fant vs. LV

Denver Broncos roster review: Tight end Noah Fant - Mile High Report

Projection: 6 REC | 64 YDS | 2 TDS

Fant faces the Raiders who haven’t done well against opposing tight ends. Plus you add in the drama this week and Fant will explode in fantasy football.

Zach Ertz vs. TB

Tampa’s pass defense is horrible dead last to be specific. Like I said earlier Smith will go off but so will Ertz as well. Ertz will have his best game of the season. Also with Goedert on the covid list this week it means more targets for Ertz which means more catches.

Dawson Knox vs. TEN

Knox has been on fire lately when you get a player on a hot streak you need to ride him. So don’t even consider benching Knox this or even maybe the rest of the season. He could be turning an Elite TE in fantasy football.

SIT

Robert Tonyan vs. CHI

Projection: 1 REC | 18 YDS

The one thing the Bears always have is an excellent defense and that is no different this season. Also, you throw in how inconsistent Tonyan has been. SIT, SIT, SIT with no question asked. Plus I believe he is droppable in all fantasy football formats.

Dalton Schultz vs. NE

Schultz has been decent so far this season but this week he faces Belichek and the Patriots who are tough against opposing tight ends. So shy away from Schultz.

David Njoku vs. ARI

Njoku had a monster game last week but don’t fall into the fantasy football trap and run to pick him up because it’s was only one game and he will throw more duds than good games in fantasy football. Avoid Njoku and leave him on the waiver wire.

SLEEPER

Tommy Tremble vs. MIN

Tommy Tremble is going to become a big target for Darnold as the season progresses due to the trade of Arnold. The Tremble coming out party will start this week against a decent Vikings defense. So if your pinch and need a TE this week go get Tremble and start him.

For Kickers and Defense. I’m only going to give a projection and an Explanation for the starts/sits of the week. The rest of the top 3 will just be listed with no explanation.

START

Matt Prater vs. CLE

Matt Prater hopes to be back with the Lions in 2021

Projection: 4 XP | 3 FGS

Cardinals and Browns game will be a high scoring affair which means plenty of points for Prater against the Browns. Prater is the Kicker you want in fantasy football this week.

Matt Gay vs. NYG

Tyler Bass vs. TEN

SIT

Dan Carlson vs. DEN

Projection: 1 XP | 1 FG | 2 MFGS | 1 MXP

It is going to be an ugly game for the whole Raiders team and that includes Carlson. Avoid Carlson and pick up a better option on the waiver wire.

Graham Gano vs. CAR

Evan McPherson vs. DET

SLEEPER

Mason Crosby vs. CHI

If you need a spot start at Kicker go and pick up Crosby because he will rebound hugely. Plus that Bears defense is good enough to force the Packers into kicking field goals.

START

Buffalo vs. Tennessee

Bills show Chiefs who's in charge of AFC | News, Sports, Jobs - Observer Today

Projection: 9 PTS | 240 YDS | 7 SKS | 3 INTS | 1 FF | 1 FR | 1 TD

The Bills defense is one of the top defenses in the NFL and that will continue against the Titans. The Titans have struggled offensively this season but it has gotten better lately but they will take a step back again against the stout Buffalo defense. So I believe they will focus on shutting down Henry and make Tannehill beat them. Which will spell bad news for the Titan’s offense.

Denver vs. Las Vegas

Green Bay vs. Chicago

SIT

Washington vs. Kansas City

Projection: 35 PTS | 589 YDS | 3 SKS | 1 FF | 1 FR

The Washington defense hasn’t lived up to their expectations this season. Plus the Chiefs QB is Patrick Mahomes and he puts up tons of points on opposing defenses. Those reasons alone are enough to avoid the Washington defense.

Cleveland vs. Arizona

Baltimore vs. Los Angeles Chargers

SLEEPER

Dallas vs. New England

If you play matchups at defense which many fantasy football owners do then I would go with the Cowboy’s defense because they have been an under-the-radar good this season. Also, Dallas is facing an inconsistent Patriots offense with a rookie QB at the helm.

I had a lot of fun writing this and I hope all of my week 6 start/sit advice helps everyone. I’ll be back next week with more fantasy start/sit advice.
